Melanie Nonmacher

Melanie Nonmacher is a dedicated scholar, educator, and curator whose career spans the worlds of art, education, and community engagement. A married mother of four, Melanie brings warmth, depth, and intellectual curiosity to every role she takes on, whether in the classroom, the gallery, or the community.

With a background in both real estate and teaching, Melanie’s professional path reflects a lifelong passion for history, culture, and the arts. She holds two bachelor’s degrees, one from St. Joseph College of Maine in Theology and another from Loyola University New Orleans in Ministry & Pastoral Counseling. Melanie went on to earn her master’s degree from the University of Houston- Clear Lake in Humanities- Art History. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate in Education at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, researching museum education for students of all ages, continuing her commitment to deep scholarship and cultural preservation.

 

Melanie serves as Assistant Curator and Community Outreach Director for the Kaplan Museum of Judaica, where she is actively shaping the museum’s mission through thoughtful programming and public engagement. She is also deeply involved with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, where she is part of the Bayou Bend Docent Program, currently serving as Assistant School Tour Chair, bringing American decorative arts and history to life for diverse audiences.

A lifelong lover of history and art, Melanie is especially passionate about making culture accessible and relevant, connecting people of all backgrounds to the stories that shape us. Whether leading a gallery tour, designing a new education program, or mentoring students, she brings both academic rigor and heartfelt humanity to her work.
